Our horseshoe game sets are available in Pro and Tournament models. The Pro set features 4 official size and weight anodized horseshoes. The Tournament set features 4 official size and weight horseshoes that are painted traditional blue and red colors. All game sets come complete with 4 official size and weight horseshoes, 2 two piece threaded score rods, foam padded striker tool for ease of pounding score rods in place and a easy to carry organizer bag with storage pockets and enclosure straps for the scoring rod and striker tool.
Horseshoes is an outdoor game that is played between two people or two teams of two people using four horseshoes and two throwing target stakes set in a sand or dirt area. The game is played by the players taking turns tossing horseshoes at stakes in the ground, which are traditionally placed 40 feet apart. The first player throws both of his or her horseshoes; one at a time, at the opposite stake, and then the second player throws both of their horseshoes. After scoring, the next round is done by throwing back at the original stake. Most backyard games are played to 21 points with a win by 2 points required. Ringers are given 3 points and require the horseshoe to completely encircle the stake. A horseshoe that ends up within 6 inches of the stake counts for one point, so long as an opponents shoe is not closer. If both of one player's horseshoes are closer than the opponent's, two points are scored. If a player throws two ringers, that player scores six points. If each player throws a ringer, the ringers cancel and no points are scored. If two ringers are thrown by one player and one ringer by the opponent, the player throwing two ringers scores three points.
